Hello, I'm Carolina
I work as a project manager. I am a parent, and I live abroad as an expatriate in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What started as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Portugal wasn't in the long-range plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were intense — unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily chores seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet over time, routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt secure.
Why I Built Solar Beacon Way
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow travel content. What was missing was a truthful, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical know-how from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a genuine change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism board resource
- Not a sponsored-review platform
- Not a generic travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal continues, and so does the journey of learning. As long as the information remains helpful, I will keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or elsewhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Carolina
